Now that the summer anime season is pretty much over and a new season is getting ready to start, it’s time for the wrap-ups and previews to commence once again in that glorious flurry of happy endings and new beginnings that we’ve all come to know and love! Summer 2016 Preview: Amanchu!

Kozue Amano’s Aria series has long been one of those anime that I’ve been interested in watching but keep putting off for various reasons. My interest in her work was rekindled this past anime season, when I discovered my personal affinity for iyashikei anime via the most delightful Flying Witch. In a bit of a timely coincidence, one of the series scheduled to air this season is the anime adaptation of one of Amano’s other relaxing maritime manga, Amanchu!. Initially, I wasn’t aware that the two series were by the same creator, but from the very beginning of the first episode, the similarity is impossible to miss. So, if you’re like me, looking for something to fill the void left by Flying Witch at the end of last season, Amanchu! could be exactly the show you’re looking for.
